About
Welcome!
AjijicMusic.com is primarily a directory of:
in Lake Chapala's most populous towns.
For now the website is in English.
Our Mission
The priority is to raise awareness of musical acts, venues, and promotional efforts (newsletters, Facebook groups, event calendars) in the towns on Lake Chapala.
Many bands and venues don't have proper web pages or calendars with media and descriptions. Promotional materials are patchy and scattered, and often limited to graphics only. In any case, a hub with links is in order. Poke around and you might find your new favorite band, and discover a new place to see music!
If you have (or like) a band that isn't represented here,
go to the "Submit Your Band" page and complete the form.
Restaurant and club owners are busy running their establishments and don't have time to do it all... And their promotions are focused on their products.
Busy bands can't promote all their shows at a consistently high level.
And, Facebook & Instagram have been gamechangers for promotional strategies; they are effective in many ways, but bands and venues shouldn't rely on them solely: it's too easy to miss things.
Eventually we hope to publish a better event calendar, but there are other resources on Facebook and email lists that do good work in this area; see the Links page.
Also, this can be a forum and directory for musicians' resources and discussions, too:
starting bands/collaborating, gear issues, etc.
It's a vast undertaking, so we appreciate all the help we can get!
Donations would help us devote time to the project.
Who we are
The creator of this page is a local musician who has years of experience leading bands, playing in bands, promoting & booking bands, talent purchasing (booking) for a club, and producing shows. He's also a music teacher, and is on a mission to build community and healthy expression through live music.
The state of the industry is rough due to various factors, so now more than ever, we see the need to provide tools to help out this wonderful art form and build community.
